About the Event

In partnership with TechBuffalo, UB School of Management, UB Department of Computer

Science & Engineering, UB Accessibility Resources, UB Libraries, and the UB Institute for

Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, the UB Startup and Innovation Collaboratory is proud to

launch the AI for Good Challenge for Spring 2025.

 

Throughout this three-day event, you will dive headfirst into the process of developing the next

advancement in Artificial Intelligence. Your goal is to develop an AI-driven solution that

significantly reduces the impact of a major societal challenge. Guided by seasoned facilitators

with extensive expertise in both theory and practice, you will embark on a high intensity

experience yielding valuable knowledge and insights into AI and technology solutions to today’s

problems. Teams will also gain exclusive access to leading content experts through a series of

tech talks and networking opportunities.

 

By the end of the hackathon, you’ll emerge with a comprehensive tool kit for creative problem

solving, business plan development, and innovation. Get ready to unlock your full creative

potential and embark on a journey of innovation that transcends boundaries!

Requirements

Your submission and final presentation must include:
  • Outline of proposed solution to challenge statement which includes essential features and functionalities to address the main use case. 
  • Visual to clarify business process, workflow, or prototype mockup of your solution to demonstrate the basic functionality and user interactions.
  • Presentation Details
    • Team name
    • Names of teammates
    • The challenge statement your team selected
    • Mentors you worked with (at least 2)
  • BONUS - MVP or demo showcasing the working functionality of the software product

  • Innovation and Creativity
    The project exhibits exceptional creativity and innovation in its approach, concept, and technology. It introduces novel ideas or solutions that stand out and push boundaries.
  • Presentation and Communication
    The presentation is exceptionally clear, engaging, and well-structured. It effectively conveys the challenge selected and the team’s solution. The team presents confidently and effectively explains their project.
  • Potential for Future Development
    The project has clear potential for future development and expansion. It outlines a roadmap for scaling, improving, and evolving the solution.
  • Solution Execution
    The project demonstrates a high level of proficiency in design and has comprehensive user implementation, marketing, and financial strategies. All project requirements are included. The team effectively explain their project to non-technical judges.
